Our solutions adapted to swine species
Swine production it is the second meat product in the world, with 113 million tons per years (2021). 46% of the production is in China followed by Europe (20.9%) and US, Brazil, Vietnam or Thailand. In 2020 pigs represented 24.1% of the worldwide compound feed volume. The swine industry has been disrupted recently due to rising raw material costs coupled with a very low pork price. Manufacturers had to adapt to the market and rethink their ingredients for more economical solutions.
In addition, African Swine Fever has ravaged pig herds around the world making the sanitary situation complicated.
At the same time, swine producers are facing new regulatory restrictions, such as the ban of zinc oxide use at therapeutic doses since June 2022. Animal welfare is also a subject becoming increasingly important in the customers ‘mind. In consequence, the industry must review its practices, particularly regarding tail docking and castration.
All this is combined with environmental and societal challenges that require total transparency in swine production. In this context, Phosphea recently developed a full product range dedicated to swine industry such as MCP, CalseaGow, MAG26, CalseaPowder Advance and HumIPHORA.
