Neophos Ruminants

A well-balanced phosphate

A phosphate adapted to manufacture mineral feed

NEOPHOS is suitable for ruminants as it brings 45% of water-soluble phosphorus which allow to secure diet. It contains sodium without chlorine which give it an electrolytic balance around 2200 mEq/kg, which help cows to struggle against heat stress. Its composition gives it technological advantages against MCP (less sensitive to humidity and less reactive), which can be an advantage for the lick block manufacturing.

NEOPHOS secure P suply for ruminal bacteria

In normal situation, it is considered that there is no difference in phosphate availability (due to rumination and rumen bacteria) provided that the P citric acid solubility is > 90% (Gueguen, 1970). But under subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA), P water solubility is important for rumen bacteria to secure the P availability (Ramirez-Perez, 2007). Indeed, in case of SARA there is less P water soluble and cellulolytic bacteria are the first impacted by this lack of P water soluble and therefore microbial protein synthesis decrease and feed intake decrease (Durand et al., 1989). However, as zootechnical performance has increased, dairy cows are very often on the razor’s edge of acidosis. Therefore, it’s important to secure the diets by bringing soluble P.

NEOPHOS has a positive impact on fiber digestion

Our in vitro trial has shown that NEOPHOS improves ruminal fermentations by improving dry matter and fiber digestion and thus, by increasing the ratio C2/C3 compared to a diet without phosphate or with MCP.

Did you know ?

Technological properties of NEOPHOS :
  • NEOPHOS is 22% less sensitive to humidity absorption
  • NEOPHOS decreases lumps risk and improves storage compared to MCP
  • NEOPHOS is twice less reactive than MCP

It limits exothermic reactions in mineral mixtures or premixes which is an asset in licking blocks manufacturing.
