Monocalcium phosphate
Our monocalcium phosphate (MCP) is produced in Saint-Malo (France), Cartagena (Spain), Gabès (Tunisia) and Prahovo (Serbia) and is available as granules, micro-granules and fine particles. It features both a high phosphorus content and excellent digestibility, especially in poultry and pigs, but also in fish farming, thus reducing the environmental impact of phosphorus releases.
Containing more than 75% water-soluble phosphorus, it is also recommended in ruminant feed and especially for the rumen microorganisms which require a higher phosphorus intake than the animals themselves! This raw material belongs to the calcium phosphates group. According to European regulations, its Ca/P ratio is below 0.9.
Supplementation of inorganic feed phosphates is necessary in diet especially for bone mineralization balance. Due to its high phosphorus content and its high digestibility coefficient, monocalcium phosphate is a good solution. Calcium is a mineral frequently present in excess in diet, monocalcium phosphate brings a the lower calcium content compared to dicalcium phosphate (DCP).
Furthermore, its low pH is interesting as it may contribute to optimize feed digestion into the monogastric and aquaculture species, especially in piglets for supporting the acidification process (activation of stomach enzymes while protecting the digestive tract against pathogens).
Phosphates may also have an effect on technological aspects!
Due to its molecular composition, MCP is more reactive than a DCP, a parameter that is necessary in certain manufacturing process: for example, for licking buckets in ruminants where the mixture naturally sets.
The powder form of monocalcium phosphate is useful if you which to avoid grinding step at the factory while keeping homogeneity of the mixture.
