DCP

Dicalcium phosphate

A calcium rich phosphate

Phosphea produces anhydrous dicalcium phosphate (DCP) in Saint-Malo (France), Gabès (Tunisia), Cartagena (Spain) and Imbituba (Brazil). Our DCP is available in powder or micro-granules form. DCP was one of the first feed phosphates we developed. It can be used in animal feed for all kinds of species. This raw material belongs to the calcium phosphates group. According to European regulations, its Ca/P ratio is above 1.2.

The calcium content of dicalcium phosphate is high (between 22% and 28%). In layers, calcium is essential for the eggshell’s synthesis and to ensure its quality. Therefore, the use of DCP phosphates is widespread in layers compound feed manufacturers. The use of DCP products is also interesting in ruminants because of the high calcium content that allows to bring available calcium for milk production. Moreover dicalcium phosphate has an buffer capacity, that is important to maintain pH level in the rumen.

Technological advantages of DCP

The dicalcium phosphate is well-known for its use in feed factory. Its pH and low reactivity contributes to a good productivity. Thus, the use of dicalcium phosphate during high demand periods improves the productivity of the feed mills when they produce pellet products.

For premix and mineral producers, dicalcium phosphate is the preferred choice because it avoids the risk of any acid-base reaction into the formula and therefore, secure the mixture even more if there are thermo-sensitive ingredients such as vitamins.
